The organic romaine hearts, are hand selected to ensure its size and shape. The external leaves are removed from the lettuce to leave only internal leaves, which shows a light green color, a crunchy texture and has firm white ribs, almost until the tip. As we get closer to the center, hearts leaves are smaller, more yellow and sweeter.

RECOMMENDATIONS.

The organic romaine hearts should be chosen for its fresh and crunchy without dark spots and with strong ribs.

 

STORAGE.

Store organic romaine hearts in a bag, inside the refrigerator, being careful of not storing them close to fruits and vegetables that produce ethylene, since this can make them mature faster. The ideal temperature is between 1°C to 4.4°C. Humidity: 95 to 100% Ethylene production: NO Sensitive to ethylene exposure: YES.

 

PREPARATION.

It is recommended to wash the romaine hearts before serving them rinse with cold water and dry them afterwards to remove excess of moisture. Then, slice or cut them into the preferred size. You can use also the entire leaves to create the traditional Caesar salad or as a base to eat chicken or other type of meat as a taco, even they can be decorative when serving dishes.
